Artist Residency
The Art Cake artist residency provides individual workspaces to artists from around the world working in a variety of fine art disciplines. Artists-in-residence rotate every one to two years with an aim to build and support a diverse community of New York City artists. The residency complex on the second floor is comprised of eleven studios (each 150-400 square feet), which are accessible twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Residents also share a communal area with a kitchen and microwave, and have roof access. High-speed internet, and heat and air conditioning are also provided.
During their tenure, residency artists are each given a solo exhibition in Studio 10, and have the opportunity to present their work in curated group exhibitions in the ground floor space.
Residents have been selected based on merit by New York-based artists, curators, writers, and professors. Each member of the rotating selection committee provides names of two to three artists who would benefit from the studio program. Art Cake welcomes artists of all ages, working in all disciplines who can commit to using the studios regularly for production. If you would like more information, please email info@artcake.org.
One studio is available on a short-term basis for artists living outside of New York who would benefit from having studio space locally for a specific event or exhibition in New York City. Please inquire for details, availability and pricing.
