In my work, paint is not merely a substance but a living entity, full of vitality. I blend hand-ground pigments with natural binders such as egg, oil, and assorted glues, both animal and plant-dervied. My process seeks a symbiotic relationship with paint, yielding layered compositions that possess a non-artificial quality, revealing cracks and peels reminiscent of nature’s own patterns.

I think of composing a painting as the artificial act of controlling and possessing space. Compositions are how we carve up the raw, untamed physicality of space and earth-based matter into something that can be understood and navigated by the human mind. I embrace this essential fact of composition but also seek to disrupt it by bringing uncertain factors-like the movement of sunlight-and ungovernable mixtures of paint into the process.
