Elegy The elegy is a poetic form used as a space for reflection, lament, love, and mourning, and which I have adopted visually in honor of personal loss. Despite poetry's ongoing quest to address grief, people still say, "there are no words," after a loss. And so I have worked to paint into grief in an unarticulated space, within which the energy required to shape, identify, articulate, convey all the flickering emotions of grief, is not necessary. Rather, all the viewer has to do is rest within that visual space of abstract elegiac composition and medium.
