Eric Laverty is an artist based in New York and Detroit whose durational, performative photography reimagines how images come into being, reframing his role within the process. Through Prolongance, his continuous vantage point perspective, he allows time, gesture, and place to accumulate into layered, negotiated traces of shared momentum, asking whether photography can restore immediacy rather than merely arresting it. He studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with Gerhard Richter and at SMFA-Boston with Jim Dow. His photography, photocollages, and paintings have been exhibited in Boston, Düsseldorf, New York, and Brussels, with works in private collections in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Look for “Disguise the Limit,” curated by John Yau, opening September 7 at Art Cake.
