SATURDAYS, MAR 12 & 19, 12-6P

William Fleites will present a new site-specific installation in Art Cake's ground floor gallery. This will be the artist's largest work to date. On Saturdays, MAR 12 and MAR 19, the artist will be on site welcoming visitors from 12-6P.

Most recently, Fleites presented an installation as part of the Art Cake Resident Presentation Series.

“By its very nature of temporary construction impermanence is a part of this sculpture, its intent is a brief dialogue between the viewer, space, and sculpture.

The scale is an important element. The scale’s relationship between the viewer and space are meant to connect all three elements for the brief interaction. Its important that both the relationship between viewer and space and sculpture and space work at the same point in time.

The experience of daylight and the effect daylight has around the sculpture is also an important relationship. The sculpture is not meant to be viewed with artificial lighting. The sculpture is meant to reflect and diffuse the daylight and impact the viewer experience.

There is also a relationship between the sculpture and architecture. The effect is intended to allow the viewer to discover a relationship between the two and decide how they may fit into that dialogue.”
